Growing in the Word!
“Biblical Literacy!”
“But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it,”
–(Deuteronomy 30:14, KJV).
On average, the Christian home has more than nine Bibles in the house. The obligatory “family” Bible is usually located in a prominent place in the home and is chalked full of “important documents.” There are one or two Bibles that are memories from childhood, and perhaps another one that was used (sort of) while in college. The prevalence of and access to God’s Word through electronic medium is mind-boggling. How many ways do you have access to the Bible?
Researchers George Gallup and Jim Castelli stated, “Americans revere the Bible, but by and large, they do not read it, and because they do not read it, they have become a nation of biblical illiterates.” Does this categorization fit you? When was the last time you opened your Bible to spend just 10 minutes out of your day to read God’s Word?
Today’s Scripture was spoken to the children of Israel but is applicable for Christian believers today. God told the Israelites they could not say they did not know God’s Word because it was too far from them, or it was too high in heaven. The Scripture says, “It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, “Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us that we may hear it, and do it?” (Deuteronomy 30:12, KJV). God’s Word is right where it needs to be, in your mouth and in your heart! However, that will not be a reality if you do not open up the covers of your Bible and make it a point to spend some quality time with God.
I have noticed, while riding on the subway, how people were immersed in reading a top-selling novel. What would people think if they saw you reading your Bible- -the number one selling book of all time? Better yet; what would God think when you made it a point to read His Word. Do not become, or remain, a biblical illiterate. Biblical illiteracy and the lack of biblical preaching and teaching, are directly proportional to the increase in Christian compromise. You cannot remain strong against what you have no understanding about from the start. Make it a point to eliminate biblical illiteracy in your home today!
“For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword…it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart,”
–(Hebrews 4:12, TNIV).

Walking with God! “Remembering Old Friends”
“For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you always in my prayers,” (Romans 1:9-10a, ESV).
Striking It Rich
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God,” (Matthew 19:24, KJV). How often have you wished you would hit the lottery? An old Jewish proverb was common in Jewish writings to express great...
Daily Verse: Isiah 53:6
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned – every one – to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
